Halloween is only a few weeks away and to get into the spirit I have chosen three books that showcase the paranormal in different ways! We have supernatural powers, a haunting, and vampire which all await me in this month’s TBR! Without further rambling, here is what I am reading this month.
I’ll be starting off the month by reading Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco. Earlier this year, I read her debut novel, Stalking Jack The Ripper, and loved it. I fell in love with not only her writing style but also with her storytelling. I cannot wait to meet back up with our characters, in Romania, as they begin this new mysterious adventure.
Next, I will be beginning a new series that seems to have been on my radar forever and I just never picked it up off my shelf and that is…The Diviners by Libba Bray. The third book in this series was released this past Tuesday, October 3rd, and it jump-started my need to read this book. We are moving on from murder & vampires in Romania, to murder & supernatural powers in 1920s New York City. A book containing flappers, speakeasies, and the supernatural sounds right up my alley! Do you think I’ll need a password to open the book?
Finally, I will be moving on to the haunting tale of A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis. Taking place in two different asylums, we see our main character, Grace Mae, use her powerful mind to help assist at crimes scenes and hunt a murderer. She does this all while dealing with the darkness that lurks in her own past. This book sounds absolutely chilling and I cannot wait to flip thru its pages!
QOTB: What is at the top of your TBR this month?
Can’t wait to read what is on your TBRs as well as fall into the books on my list! Thanks for reading!

This weeks topic is Favorite Videos/Posts Of Mine
I really love this topic as it let me go back and revisit my YouTube channel which I haven’t down much with in the last 2 years. I’m thinking about getting back in the swing of it by taking part in this years BooktubeAThon! So, if you are interested in this particular readathon coming up next month subscribe to my channel and it might help give me the push to get back to making videos!
Now for my Top 5 Wednesday!
I’m starting this off with my first ever video I posted on my WhimsicalNarratives channel!
This or That Book TAG and Introduction
I filmed this video sitting on my bed with my laptop and looking back on the quality and sounds yes it was pretty poor but I think for my first booktube video the content I created was pretty good. I remember being super proud of putting this video up!
Anime Weekend Atlanta 2014 | Thursday
This video was the second convention I have ever vlogged at. I’m sharing this one because there is on quote from my friend in this vlog that still makes us laugh till this day! It has to do with Hunger Games…if you find it let me know in the comments…it is so bad!!! And yes the thumbnail is an ear of corn.
Booktube-A-Thon | Day 2 (2014)
This was the first time I really and truly participated in a readathon. I thought I would share one of my updates and favorite challenges from Booktube-A-Thon 2014!! 😀
Time to spread a little holiday cheer in June with my next video!
Fifteen Festive Favorites
I filmed this video for Vlogmas in 2014 and it was a tag originally created by Tom Fletcher for I believe a christmasy Dear Carrie / Dear Gi video!
and finally the last video I’m going to share is…
My book review of The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare
I haven’t posted a book review on this blog yet so I’ve decided to share this video with all of you.
I hope you enjoy this look back at my previous videos on my YouTube channel and thank you for reading this weeks post. I will write to you all again soon and maybe even have some new content on my YouTube channel in the next couple months!
Here I go…I’m typing my first blog post on my new blog Whimsical Narratives (I also have a YouTube channel and Instagram of the same name). This blog has been sitting empty for almost a year. I never really had the inspiration or motivation to start the writing posts after the rush of excitement over creating the blog itself. The excitement just sorta died…
In fact, my YouTube/Booktube channel as also suffered from this…I’m not going to go to far into detail about why I haven’t been posting as often on my channel. I’m not quite ready for that yet. Let’s just say that my mental health as been on my radar a lot in the past year and a half and I finally decided to get some help.
So, you might be asking, “Why didn’t you just make a video about all of this?” The answer is that it’s complicated, I guess. I’ll contemplate videos all the time but I’ll find countless reasons to end up not filming them. I think that since the last handful of videos have been unboxings, I feel like it is repetitive and dull and so instead I enjoy opening them and oogling at all the fun and geeky things all by myself. I also tell myself that since my room is a mess and that I need to clean before I film and I think we can guess how that goes and it’s all a vicious circle of I’ll film this, but you can’t because A or B…and over and over. Also, I feel like I’ve been out of the game for what feels like so long that the quality of my videos is going to be back down to…let’s just call it beginner status. I feel like I will be lost, awkward and absolutely terrible when I finally sit back down in front of the camera. That is why I’m sitting here typing this instead.
I’m hoping that typing this post will help me get over that awkwardness and frustration I feel. I’m planning to type up a couple of book reviews (not my strong suit) to post and maybe a TAG or two. I guess, I’m hoping that writing and talking about books for a bit here will help my mind reset and get me focused and on track and renew the passion and excitement I had for Booktube, while giving me a new hobby that will tie everything together.
This feels a little intense to be typing as a first post of a blog, but I hope that those of you who see this post will like it for what it is. I hope that you will find this blog as enjoyable as I’m hoping it will be for me and that we can read and get lost in many stories together.
