Thank you for reading this post. If you are participating this year leave me a comment on what you will be reading and I wish you the best of luck with this years Booktube-A-Thon!
Here I go…I’m typing my first blog post on my new blog Whimsical Narratives (I also have a YouTube channel and Instagram of the same name). This blog has been sitting empty for almost a year. I never really had the inspiration or motivation to start the writing posts after the rush of excitement over creating the blog itself. The excitement just sorta died…
In fact, my YouTube/Booktube channel as also suffered from this…I’m not going to go to far into detail about why I haven’t been posting as often on my channel. I’m not quite ready for that yet. Let’s just say that my mental health as been on my radar a lot in the past year and a half and I finally decided to get some help.
So, you might be asking, “Why didn’t you just make a video about all of this?” The answer is that it’s complicated, I guess. I’ll contemplate videos all the time but I’ll find countless reasons to end up not filming them. I think that since the last handful of videos have been unboxings, I feel like it is repetitive and dull and so instead I enjoy opening them and oogling at all the fun and geeky things all by myself. I also tell myself that since my room is a mess and that I need to clean before I film and I think we can guess how that goes and it’s all a vicious circle of I’ll film this, but you can’t because A or B…and over and over. Also, I feel like I’ve been out of the game for what feels like so long that the quality of my videos is going to be back down to…let’s just call it beginner status. I feel like I will be lost, awkward and absolutely terrible when I finally sit back down in front of the camera. That is why I’m sitting here typing this instead.
I’m hoping that typing this post will help me get over that awkwardness and frustration I feel. I’m planning to type up a couple of book reviews (not my strong suit) to post and maybe a TAG or two. I guess, I’m hoping that writing and talking about books for a bit here will help my mind reset and get me focused and on track and renew the passion and excitement I had for Booktube, while giving me a new hobby that will tie everything together.
This feels a little intense to be typing as a first post of a blog, but I hope that those of you who see this post will like it for what it is. I hope that you will find this blog as enjoyable as I’m hoping it will be for me and that we can read and get lost in many stories together.
