Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful Tuesday!
Today’s Top 10 Tuesday is all about the ten backlist books I want to read. This list could go on forever as I have over 200 books sitting pretty on my TBR pile, but I’m going to try to narrow it down to my top ten books that should have been read the day I bought them.
Ember In The Ashes by Sabar Tahir
To give some perspective at how long ago I bought this book, it’s the original Hardcover! Seriously, why have I not read this book yet, especially when I’ve heard nothing but great things and I’ve actually met the author, who is super sweet. This book needs to be picked up and shown some love ASAP!
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Once again, the Red Queen got lost amongst my massive TBR and when the subsequent books were released, I would think to myself that I should really read the Red Queen and it just never happened. Maybe writing this blog post will change this book’s future for the better.
Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Like many of the books on this list, the Night Circus has been sitting on my TBR for a few years at the minimum. I would always pick up this book and read the synopsis and think “Yes, I really want to read this book!” Since finally buying the book it hasn’t seen even five minutes of reading time. I will get there someday because I really want to read this book!
The Diviners by Libba Bray
This book has always intrigued me with its magical elements and its setting of the 1920s. This book has been on a past TBR a time or two but never quite made it to the reading stage in our book to reader relationship. Now, with all the books in the series out, I think I will plan to read this series very soon so that I can binge read my way through them all!
Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
This book has seen it’s fair share of TBRs over the last few years, but it has never gotten past that point. This book holds so much interest not only for its intriguing plot, but the book itself actually glows in the dark; how cool is that!
This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Great Gatsby will always hold a place in my heart when it comes to Classics, but This Side of Paradise is another one of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s books that has been on my radar and I don’t why I haven’t picked it up sooner. Reading more classic literature is going to be one of my bookish resolutions for next year and this book will be at the top next to Jane Eyre and Sense and Sensibility.
Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin
What can I say, this book is a series that I should have started reading a long time ago. I love the show, but after it was said to veer from the book plotline around Season 2, I decided it was best to hold off on reading the series until after the show’s conclusion this coming April. Hopefully, by the time I get around to starting the series next year, we will have a release date for the final book…though I’m definitely not holding my breath for that announcement.
The Book Jumper by Mechthild Gläser
This book was a birthday present from a friend that I picked out during our trip to the bookstore! I loved the idea of this story, where a girl has the power to jump into books. Can you imagine? The ability to just quite literally be in your favorite books! It would be amazing, though I’m sure with a thief stealing from the book’s pages it’s going to be a book full of mystery as well as fun and I hope, like all these books, to read it soon.
The Defiant by Leslie Livingston
I’m so ready to read this book! I plowed through The Valiant, after receiving an Advanced Reader Copy at YallFest 2016. I bought The Defiant as soon as it came out and then nothing….The Defiant has now been out for almost a year and I have yet to pick it up. I’m going to re-read The Valiant this month, with the plan to read The Defiant in December or January.
Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
I was pulled to this book the second I got it in my OwlCrate box, but like all the backlisted books before it, it is still holding court on my bookcase. I love the premise of a competition between sister princesses as to who will rule and with each bringing a different personality to the table, this book as the makings of being a very exciting story. A story that I hope to read soon.
I’m happy that Top Ten Tuesday’s are only about ten books because I could have gone on forever and a day about the books on my backlist. I have so many wonderful books just sitting on my shelves waiting to be read for the first time. I may need to put myself on a serious book ban and get reading all the books I already own. Let me know a few books on your backlist that you just keep putting off or haven’t found the time to read? Are any of mine on your list as well. Leave me a comment and I’ll write to you all again soon.
Remember that life is better with books,
