This weeks topic is Summer Reads!
For this topic I already had 1 book in mind and it was…
Seventeenth Summer by Maureen Daly
“What better time than summer for a little romance? Except for Angie, who doesn’t really date. Didn’t date, that is – until she saw Jack Duluth’s crew cut peeking out over a booth at McKnight’s drugstore one night. Thus starts the summer Angie will never forget – one full of spine chills, total bliss, heartache, and confusion. . . all the feelings that spell love.”
– Back Cover Blurb
This book is an ultimate summer read for me. It is a coming of age story about first love. I have cherished this book for a long time. My mom had read it when she was younger and then she told me about it. I’ve probably reread it a couple of times since the first reading. Even though the book was first published in 1942, I think that the emotions and connections that are displayed by the characters still hold relevance today or can atleast be applied to how we feel about growing up, family, and relationships! A great read for those long car rides or lounging on the beach.
For the next 4 books I decided to hit my TBR shelf and find some books that had a summery feel to them that I could see myself reading this summer. These books have been chosen mostly by their colorful covers that bring summer to the front of my mind. They are about friends, road trips, romances, travel, and discovering you. A few of them also take place during the summertime…so very appropriate!
Driftwood by Elizabeth Dutton
“How Far Would You Go For You Family”
Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
“Two Best Friends…Two Broken Hearts… One Summer That Will Change Everything.”
No Place to Fall by Jaye Robin Brown
“A girl. A dream. A choice.”
Broken Hearts, Fences and Other Things to Mend by Katie Finn
“Hot sun. Blue waves. New romances. Old secrets.”
If you have read any of the books above what did you think of them? Also, let me know a book from your summer reads whether it is a book you’ve already read or one that you are hoping to read while relaxing this summer.

I just bought Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to mend! Such a great list!
I read Seventeenth Summer last fall, and while dated, the teen-age emotions of first love were universal!
